Educational publishers face a constant challenge: ensuring content matches the reading level of the target audience. A text written for 5th graders that reads at an 8th grade level creates frustration. Content that's too simple fails to challenge.

The process of photosynthesis, which is the biochemical mechanism by which
chlorophyll-containing organisms convert light energy into chemical energy,
involves a complex series of reactions. During the light-dependent reactions,
photons are absorbed by chlorophyll molecules embedded within the thylakoid
membranes, subsequently generating ATP and NADPH through an electron transport
chain. The light-independent reactions, commonly referred to as the Calvin
cycle, utilize these energy-rich molecules to facilitate the fixation of
carbon dioxide into organic compounds through a process known as carbon fixation.
